This Easter, the Stawell Gift becomes more than a race. It becomes cinema.

“Chasing Time”, a feature about the Stawell Gift, will be filmed live at the 2026 Powercor Stawell Gift, with the race itself forming the emotional climax of the story.

And we’re calling on real athletes to be part of it.

WHAT WE NEED

We’re casting 13 male athletes to feature as runners across three race scenes:

Qualifying Race (Sunday, April 5)

  • 5 athletes required
  • One featured runner (minor dialogue role)
  • Filming: 8:00–9:00am (arrive 7:30am)

Semi Final (Sunday, April 5)

  • 4 athletes required
  • Filming immediately after qualifying race

Final (Monday, April 6)

  • 4 athletes required
  • Filming: 8:00–9:00am (arrive 7:30am)

WHAT’S INVOLVED

  • Filming takes place on the Central Park track, Stawell
  • You’ll be part of a professionally shot race sequence forming the climax of the film
  • Expect a real race environment 0blocks, marks, crowd, broadcast energy
  • Rehearsals (essential):
    • Friday/Saturday (TBC) at North Park
    • Focus: race choreography + camera blocking

WHAT YOU GET

  • $100/hour for rehearsal
  • $200 for race filming (per session)
  • One-off commercial agreement for film usage
  • The chance to feature in a major Australian feature film

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must look like a competitive Stawell-level runner
  • Bring your own race gear + starting blocks
  • Minimal visible branding (Nike is acceptable)
  • Comfortable performing in a filmed race environment
